Electronic indoor fireworks

Submitted by Denise Wong on Sunday, 5 July 2009No Comment

Last week, I spent my Canada Day holiday looking forward to just one thing - the fireworks.  I love fireworks.  I mean, really… who doesn’t?

After watching the impressive display last week, I started feeling a bit sad over the fact that fireworks is a seasonal event that only happens - at best - a few times a year.  So I thought to myself, wouldn’t it be great if I could make my own fireworks display at home?  (I mean, legally, of course)  I figured today’s technology’s got to make that a possibility.  And it does.

In less than a month, an indoor fireworks projector will be available to buy.  Sega Toys in Japan is coming out with the gadget that lets you play your own fireworks display on your walls and ceilings.  And you know when you’re watching fireworks… how you can watch the shells fly up into the sky before it bursts into a colourful explosion?  This device actually replicates that, tracking virtual shells up the walls, making for a pretty realistic display right in your own home.

I’ve got to say, I’m really impressed by this one.  This thing looks and sounds pretty darn close to the real thing.  And the coolest part is you can make your own fireworks design.  It comes with some pre-programmed displays, but you can customize it and exercise that creative muscle of yours to make your own fireworks show.

As everyone knows, as soon as fireworks are over, you go through a bit of withdrawl, and always look for more.  And I’m sure there’s more than a few people out there who would love to give it a shot and design their own fireworks display… so I’m pretty sure this gadget isn’t going to be a replacement for the real thing.  But it could be a fun thing to do with the family on a rainy day.

This all-ages toy doesn’t come without a price… it’s going to run you more than 200 bucks to order it online.

Click here to check out where you can buy this online when it’s released in early August.
